Art exhibition to display various faculty members' work

The 15th annual Faculty Invitational Art Exhibition, part of the Jubilee Festival of Arts and Humanities, began Tuesday and will continue until April 3. The work of every faculty member in the art department will be featured in the show, as well as the work of invited guest artists.

Women's Initiative for Self Empowerment, along with several other volunteers, will be presenting "A Memory, a Monologue, a Rant and a Prayer," a show addressing the issue of violence against women, on Tuesday. Stacy Guidry, director of disability services and crisis intervention coordinator at Nicholls, is the co-director of the show.

Heritage day to educate youths, celebrate French language

The University's first French and Local Heritage Day will debut Friday in Le Bijou Theater and Bollinger Memorial Student Union from noon until 6 p.m. as part of the Jubilee Festival of Arts and Humanities. In many places throughout the country, French is considered a foreign language, but for those living in South Louisiana, it is a second language.

Opinion: Lent season brings healthy eating alternatives and habits

Lenten season has begun, and many of us have grown up with this tradition of fasting. Lent, a 40-day liturgical season, begins on Ash Wednesday and concludes on Holy Saturday, the day before Easter. Traditionally, the 40 days of Lent are marked by fasting, festivities and other acts of penance.
